A 23-year-old Staatsburg resident accused of
participating in illicit sex acts with an underage girl pleaded
guilty to one felony count of engaging in a criminal sex act.
Kevin
Millsaps allegedly contacted a 12-year-old Amenia girl via the Web
site, myspace.com, to lure the victim and another underage girl to
the residence of a friend living in Rhinebeck, where he allegedly
had oral sex with one of them.
Millsaps admitted to the crime during a proceeding in the Dutchess
County courtroom of Judge James Dolan.
Millsaps was originally arrested and charged with 11 counts
pertaining to the crime, but agreed to plead guilty to the one
felony count in exchange for a promise that he would serve no more
than eight years in jail.
The Dutchess County Sheriff's Department detained Millsaps
approximately 24 hours after the parents of the victims filed
missing persons reports.
Earlier this year, Joshua Bauer, 23, a friend of Millsaps, pleaded
guilty to a reduced count of criminal facilitation for allegedly
allowing the sexual assault to take place in his home.
The crime carries a maximum sentence of five months in jail and five
years probation.
Bauer admitted that he allowed the use of his residence for the
crime, and further admitted he dared one of the girls to perform
sexual acts on Millsaps.
Millsaps is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 10.
